Sesimbra Natura Park is located in the town of Sesimbra, within the vast Mata de Sesimbra, which stands out as the largest forest area in the Lisbon metropolitan region. Its specific location is at Herdade da Mesquita, an extensive property covering 867 hectares of natural environment. This positioning gives it the character of a true refuge, a green oasis bathed by the shores of a beautiful lake, in the heart of the forest.
Sesimbra Natura Park was conceived as an outdoor activity center, offering an immersive experience in a large-scale agroforestry setting. It stands out as one of the first spaces in Portugal to provide such comprehensive infrastructure for recreation and leisure in communion with nature. Since its inception, the park has been guided by a policy of environmental, social, and economic sustainability, promoting conscious and responsible contact with the natural environment.
At Sesimbra Natura Park, interaction with the natural environment is the main focus, through a variety of offerings. It is possible to explore an adventure park with challenging courses, such as tree-top adventure, which includes a series of eleven suspended bridges between five and eight meters high, culminating in an exciting seventy-meter zip line. This experience is complemented by a climbing wall, challenging agility and balance. For those seeking non-polluting water activities, the park's thirteen hectares of water surfaces allow for the practice of water sports, such as canoeing, with the support of adequate facilities and the presence of instructors to ensure safe practice.
Additionally, the park offers group experiences like paintball and splatmaster, which combine strategy and fun in a controlled natural environment. All activities aim to enhance direct contact with nature, from walks and games to more dynamic challenges, always with the purpose of leisure and environmental education.
One of the distinctive aspects of Sesimbra Natura Park is its Pedagogical Farm, a space dedicated to educational contact with rural life and biodiversity. In this farm, there is an eighty-square-meter house, equipped for workshops and interactive activities. The outdoor environment invites exploration, with a small citrus orchard, a sensory garden, and a pedagogical vegetable garden, where visitors can learn about nature's cycles and cultivation.
The farm is also home to various farm animals, such as sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, and ducks, providing a unique opportunity for observation and interaction with animal life. This space, which includes a shaded resting area and a small playground, integrates perfectly with the orchard of local and regional varieties, highlighting the value of agricultural tradition and environmental education.
