It features a Neo-Gothic style, designed by the architect José de Macedo Araújo Júnior. Highlights include the statues of Saint Joseph and Saint Joachim, sculpted by António Soares dos Reis.
The space is embellished with stained glass windows and liturgical furniture. The main altar, which came from the Wilmotte House of Liège, was awarded in 1885 at the Antwerp Universal Exposition.
The chapel has been considered a Property of Public Interest since 1996, recognized as a unique example of Neo-Gothic art in Portugal.
Despite its historical importance, the chapel has faced problems of degradation and abandonment, with records of thefts.
It is an interesting place for those who appreciate history and architecture, being a recommended visit to better understand the cultural heritage of Porto.
