The Western Entrance of the City's Oriental Park is located in the Campanhã area, in Porto, and constitutes one of the access points to this vast green space. The park, which extends linearly, follows the banks of the Rio Tinto, positioning itself in the eastern part of the city. This location offers visitors a different perspective of Porto, away from the central hustle and bustle, in an environment closer to riverside and urban nature.

Landscape Design

The design of the Oriental Park is by landscape architect Sidónio Pardal. His vision for this site involved transforming a previously fragmented and irregular area of fields into a continuous natural space. The goal was to create a grassy and wooded environment, traversed by a network of inviting paths, where people could enjoy moments of leisure with tranquility. This concept reflects the intention to provide a serene refuge within the urban fabric.

Nature and Biodiversity

The City's Oriental Park is an example of dedication to nature and its conservation. It is a space that actively contributes to the recovery and health of the Rio Tinto, promoting environmental sustainability. The flora present includes native species such as Scots Pine, Cork Oak, and Portuguese Oak. A specific project, initiated in 2021, focuses on promoting biodiversity through differentiated maintenance practices, aiming to attract and sustain pollinator insect communities, essential for ecosystem balance.

Active Leisure Space

This park offers an environment conducive to the practice of various outdoor activities. One of its main infrastructures is a shared cycle path, which invites bicycle rides or invigorating walks along the riverbanks. Furthermore, the City's Oriental Park serves as a privileged setting for enjoying natural values and for conducting sustainability education initiatives, constituting a meeting point between urban life and local biodiversity.
