The Baião Municipal Museum is located in the Prado area, in the heart of Baião village.
It is situated in an easily accessible space within the urban fabric of the locality.
An essential part of the museum visit is dedicated to archaeology. Here, visitors can embark on a journey through time, discovering human presence in the region over thousands of years.
The exhibition presents the results of local archaeological work, highlighting periods ranging from Megalithism and the Bronze Age to the Iron Age, Romanization, and the Middle Ages. It is an opportunity to see significant objects found in the Abobeira and Castelo mountain ranges up close.
To facilitate understanding, the museum uses visual resources such as maps, timelines, and images of excavation sites. One of the points of interest is the didactic models, such as the one illustrating the stages of building a dolmen and a relief representation of the archaeological sites in the area.
The museum also offers a glimpse into the more recent past and local traditions through its ethnographic collection.
This section brings together a collection of objects that portray the daily life and traditional activities of the community. It is possible to learn more about agricultural work, the flax cycle, and the bread-making process, central elements of rural life in past eras.
