Spanning approximately 48,000 square meters, the Ecopark of São João da Talha stands out as a vast area designed for leisure and sports activities. Its conception prioritized the creation of a tranquil and inviting environment, where nature is present in the community's daily life. It is a place for meeting and socializing, ideal for a leisurely stroll or moments of rest.

Concept and Sustainable Construction

Inaugurated on September 8, 2007, this park represented a pioneering initiative in the municipality of Loures, being the first of its kind to be designed with a strong ecological focus. Its construction is a remarkable example of sustainability, having extensively utilized materials from recycling and reuse. From the pavements to the landscaped areas, environmental concern was central, incorporating, for example, waste treatment slag, elements derived from tire recycling, and even organic waste. Even the lighting was designed to minimize environmental impact, with systems that adjust light emission.

Activities and Facilities for Everyone

The Ecopark offers a variety of facilities that cater to all ages and interests. Children will find a safe and attractive playground to play in. For sports and physical activity enthusiasts, there's an outdoor gym, a fitness trail, and various sports courts for games like football and basketball. There are also areas dedicated to informal and traditional games, such as 'malha' (a Portuguese game similar to quoits), and an obstacle course. Additionally, picnic areas invite visitors to a moment of rest or a family picnic, complementing the park's leisure offerings.

Themed Gardens

One of the distinctive aspects of the Ecopark is the presence of three themed gardens, each with its unique characteristics and attractions. The Garden of Scents captivates with its diverse aromas, emanating from a variety of aromatic plants. The Garden of Remedies, in turn, features a selection of plants with medicinal properties, inviting discovery of their benefits. Lastly, the Garden of Flavors explores herbs and seasonings used in cooking. These spaces offer a sensory experience, allowing visitors to explore the richness of flora and its multiple applications.
