Located in the Alporchinhos area, in the town of Porches, Lagoa municipality, Praia dos Tremoços is nestled in a small bay at the base of imposing cliffs. It is integrated into or close to a more urbanized area, but maintains a sense of seclusion due to its natural configuration and private access.

Access and Natural Surroundings

The main access to Praia dos Tremoços is via a path that leads to a descent. Access to the sandy area is through a narrow staircase carved into the cliff rock itself. This particular access makes the beach less suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Along the warm, golden-toned cliffs that flank the beach, it is possible to observe coastal vegetation, such as pine trees and Mediterranean shrubs. In some places, particularly near the staircase, it is even possible to find vestiges of marine fossils embedded in the rock, testaments to the geological history of the site.

The Sand and the Sea

The sandy area of Praia dos Tremoços has an extension that varies considerably with the tide, becoming more reduced during high tide. The shape of the bay and the presence of a jetty on the west side have helped maintain sand accumulation over time, in an area that has previously faced coastal erosion challenges.

The waters here are usually calm and clear, providing good conditions for swimming or water activities. The tranquility of the waters generally makes it safe to enjoy the sea, especially when conditions are favorable.

Environment and Safety

The configuration of Praia dos Tremoços, sheltered by the surrounding cliffs, gives it a more secluded and tranquil environment. This natural shelter helps protect it from winds, except those blowing directly from the south.

It is important to be aware of the natural risk of cliff collapses, and it is advisable to always maintain a safe distance from the base of the rock walls. From the top of the cliffs, it is possible to enjoy views of the coastline, but caution should be exercised when approaching the edge of the precipice. During the bathing season, the beach has lifeguard surveillance.
