Located in the Vale Covo area, next to the village of Carvoeiro, in the municipality of Lagoa, Vale Covo Beach is nestled in a small cove. Access to the beach is from the top of the cliff, via a staircase that descends towards the sandy shore. Its southwest orientation contributes to a unique environment, protected from north winds.
This sandy beach is characterized by its reduced dimensions, sheltered by the imposing cliffs that form the cove. Its natural configuration gives it a sense of intimacy and tranquility. The waters are usually calm and clear, protected by the rocky disposition of the site, making them inviting for swimming and observation. Approximately fifty meters from the coast, a small islet stands out, punctuating the maritime landscape. The size of the sandy area can vary significantly depending on the tide.
The surrounding cliffs feature remarkable geological peculiarities, with rock layers that bear witness to ancient processes and may hold fossil traces. One of the most striking elements is a large cave located on the east side of the sandy area, accessible under certain tide conditions, with a notable arch at its entrance. The beauty of the rock formations and the color of the water create appealing scenarios for those who appreciate nature observation and coastal landscape photography.
