The Main Church of Odiáxere is located in Largo da Liberdade, in the center of the village of Odiáxere, in the municipality of Lagos, Algarve.
This monument has been considered a Property of Public Interest since 1996.
The church mixes Manueline and Baroque styles. It has a longitudinal plan, with a single nave and a square main area. The triumphal arch and two side altars stand out. The chancel has a wooden vault.
The church's altarpiece is decorated with gilded wood carvings and is flanked by Solomonic-style columns, giving it an imposing look.
Built in the time of King Manuel I (16th century), the church reflects the growth of the village of Odiáxere at the time. The church has undergone several works over the years, especially the interventions of the 19th century, which reformed the main facade, including the bell tower and the gable.
The Main Church is an excellent opportunity to appreciate the mixture of architectural styles and religious art, especially for those visiting the Lagos region. The interior, with its gilded wood carvings and Solomonic columns, is one of the most notable points of interest.
