Situated in the Santo André area, in Estremoz, the Municipal Swimming Pools are located in an organized urban area of the Alentejo locality. This location provides an easily accessible environment, integrated into an urban fabric that hosts various public infrastructures, making them a point of reference for the community.
Its setting in Santo André positions the aquatic complex as an integral part of the city's daily life. Its surroundings reflect the tranquility and practicality typical of an area designed for the enjoyment and well-being of residents and visitors, with good integration into the local urban landscape.
The Estremoz Municipal Swimming Pools complex offers two distinct aquatic areas, designed for use at different times of the year. A heated indoor pool, measuring 16 by 8 meters, allows for swimming and aquatic activities regardless of weather conditions, ensuring user comfort.
For warmer months, a large outdoor pool is available, becoming an attraction for those seeking to cool off and enjoy the Alentejo sun. This dual offering ensures the functionality of the space throughout the year, adapting to seasonal needs and providing options for different preferences.
One of the pillars of the Municipal Swimming Pools' design is their sustainable approach to energy consumption. Water heating for both the pools and changing rooms is ensured by a system of solar panels, demonstrating a commitment to energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact in their operation.
These solar collectors, totaling 64 square meters of surface area, were designed for harmonious visual integration into the building. They are installed on a sloped façade that minimizes their presence, maintaining the aesthetics of the space while maximizing the capture of solar energy, an abundant resource in the region.
Three decades after their inauguration, the Estremoz Municipal Swimming Pools complex benefited from a significant modernization intervention. This project aimed not only at the aesthetic improvement of the space but also at enhancing comfort conditions for visitors.
The renovation focused on replacing the window frames and glazing that divide the interior and exterior areas. This improvement brought more efficient thermal insulation to the main hall and allowed for a notable emphasis on natural light entry, creating a brighter, more inviting, and pleasant environment for all who use the facilities.
