The Tábua Cultural Center is located in the Barrosa area, in the heart of the town of Tábua, in the municipality of the same name. The building is strategically situated at the northern end of Sarah Beirão Garden, an urban area that contributes to its surroundings and visibility. This central position makes it an easily accessible and identifiable point in the village.

A Cultural Landmark

Inaugurated on April 10, 2013, the Tábua Cultural Center has established itself as the largest and most significant cultural space in the municipality. Its creation filled an important gap in available facilities, becoming a reference point for the community and visitors to the region interested in various forms of artistic and cultural expression.

Architectural Design

The architecture of the Tábua Cultural Center stands out for its composition in three main volumes. The stage body was designed to minimize visual impact on the land, being positioned at the lowest level. The main entrance to the auditorium constitutes the second volume, housing the foyer, a versatile space that hosts various thematic exhibitions throughout the year, and other support facilities. This section extends outwards with laminar elements that help integrate the building into the landscape, allowing a visual connection with the surrounding garden, while ensuring the privacy of the performance hall. The third element is the Ivo Portela Auditorium, with a capacity for 286 spectators, which stands as an independent and suspended volume, connecting the other parts of the building. The center also includes three multipurpose rooms: Sala Sarah Beirão, Sala Dr. Costa Júnior, and Sala Dr. Caeiro da Mata, which serve as a stage for various activities and training sessions.

Cultural Dynamism

The Tábua Cultural Center offers a diverse and continuous cultural program throughout the year. The Ivo Portela Auditorium is the main stage for a wide range of events, including film screenings, theater performances, and music concerts, which often occur regularly. In addition to these artistic presentations, the space also hosts conferences, lectures, and seminars, asserting itself as a multifunctional and dynamic venue in the region's cultural agenda.
