Parque da Juventude is located in a central and dynamic area of the city of Vila Nova de Famalicão, in the urbanization known as Longo. Its position allows for harmonious integration into urban life, providing a leisure and social space accessible to visitors and residents of the locality.
This park, inaugurated in 1997, stands out as one of Famalicão's most recent green spaces, covering an area of approximately 17,000 square meters. Its environment is distinctly urban, yet with a careful integration of natural elements. It features extensive lawns that invite relaxation and wooded areas where poplars, plane trees, pines, and horse chestnuts predominate, creating shaded areas and a tranquil refuge in the heart of the city.
With a clear sporting vocation, Parque da Juventude was designed and renovated to encourage the practice of various outdoor sports. Visitors will find a set of dedicated sports facilities, including a football pitch (for futsal, with synthetic turf), a tennis court (also with synthetic turf), and basketball courts (with cement flooring). Additionally, there are two concrete "BasketArt" 3x3 courts, which allow for more creative sporting experiences. Entry to these facilities is free, inviting everyone to engage in exercise.
Parque da Juventude is not just a place for leisure but also a space for cultural and artistic reflection. It is here that the notable Anti-Monument to War is found, a work titled "War Toy On My War: The story of an anti-monument". Inaugurated in 2010, this symbolic creation is the result of a collaboration between the Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão and Amnesty International, and stemmed from the participation of children and young people from the municipality in the collection and destruction of war toys. Visual artists Alexandre Costa and Jorge Fernando dos Santos were responsible for its conception. The park is further enriched by other artistic installations that appeal to observation, such as the "Sculpture Flying over the Tree" and the "Dancer Installations".
