The Landim Monastery has a rich history dating back to the Late Middle Ages, with its founding attributed to D. Gonçalo Rodrigues da Palmeira, around 1110 to 1128.
The Monastery, along with the Church and Monastery House, has been considered a Property of Public Interest since 1996, which highlights its historical and architectural importance.
The Monastery church has Romanesque elements, such as capitals and blind arcades, as well as a chapel with vault and ornaments of the time. The reconstruction in the 16th century brought Mannerist characteristics influenced by the architectural style of the Society of Jesus.
A highlight inside the church is the 18th-century organ, a unique piece that is in need of restoration.
In addition to the Monastery, tourists can explore the extensive Park and Fence that extend through agricultural lands and a beautiful oak forest, with beeches, acacias and strawberry trees.
Near the Park, there used to be a charming orchard with a tank and fountain, whose retaining walls can still be appreciated.
Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, the Monastery underwent several renovations and decorations, including the abundant use of tiles, carpet patterns and baroque carvings in the interiors.
