The Pillory of Vila da Ponte is distinguished by its robust architecture, sculpted from granite. The base of the monument is quadrangular, formed by three steps rising from the ground. From this base emerges a column with an octagonal section, which extends with a slender and harmonious shape. At the top of the column rests a quadrangular capital, characterized by its simplicity and a projecting ring. Above the capital, the structure evolves into a set of raised mouldings reminiscent of a cornice. This is followed by a prism with chamfered edges, which extends into an elegant pinecone, culminating in a stone sphere. From this sphere emerges an iron structure bearing the notable Cross of Christ, an element that reinforces its symbolism and history, often accompanied by discreet heraldic elements that underscore its significance.
