This site is characterized by a remarkable shape: a large octagon, delimited by imposing earthen walls and remnants of a moat that once surrounded it. Its configuration is considered unique on the Iberian Peninsula. In the past, this space featured an ingenious hydraulic system that connected its moats and interior to the waters of the Pavia river and the Santiago stream, revealing an advanced engineering capability for the time of its construction.
