The Old Seminary Building is located in the city of Viseu, within the Dona Maria do Céu Mendes Neighborhood. This building boasts a remarkable history of great relevance to Viseu. Formerly, it served as the Palace of the Bishops of Viseu, taking on a central function in the religious and administrative life of the diocese. During that period, it was also popularly known as "Colégio" (College), highlighting its importance as a center for formation and episcopal residence. Its existence dates back centuries, reflecting the transformations and the role of the Church in the region.
The Old Seminary features a longitudinal plan, with a distinctive roof, which gives it its own aesthetic and a notable presence in the urban context. In addition to its particular architecture, since 1924, the building has taken on a significant cultural function: it houses the facilities of the Grão Vasco Museum.
