- The Cambarinho Botanical Reserve is located in Cambarinho, in Campia, municipality of Vouzela.
- Created in 1971 and integrated into the Natura 2000 Network, this reserve is especially known for its rhododendrons (Rhododendron ponticum subsp. baeticum), a rare species that blooms on the Iberian Peninsula.
- The best time to visit the reserve is between May and June, when the rhododendrons are in full bloom, creating a natural spectacle with their purple flowers.
- During the rest of the year, it is possible to go on hiking trails and discover the local fauna and flora, although the rhododendrons are not in bloom.
- The rhododendron is a shrub that grows near water lines and in humid soils, and can reach between 2 and 4 meters in height.
- During flowering, watercourses and slopes are covered with violet flowers, creating a landscape of rare beauty.
- In addition to the rhododendrons, the reserve is home to other tree species such as maritime pine, Pyrenean oak, black oak, and alder.
- The rare flora includes species such as Veronica micrantha, while the fauna includes the Lusitanian salamander, the water lizard, and various species of toads and frogs, all characteristic of this region.
- The reserve offers a short walking route, of about 2 km, which can be done in approximately 45 minutes.
- This trail is easily accessible and suitable for visitors of all ages, with several points of interest along the way.
