Folgosa River Beach is located in the village of Folgosa, within the municipality of Castro Daire. It is situated on the right bank of the Paiva River, in an area characterized by a natural environment of great serenity. The area is integrated into Folgosa's urban fabric, providing a peaceful and easily accessible setting.
The site is marked by the presence of the Paiva River, whose calm waters are renowned for their remarkable purity, considered among the least polluted in Europe. The beach is embraced by abundant lush vegetation and good tree cover, which offers natural shade, inviting relaxation. A distinctive feature is the presence of a natural weir, which gives the scenery a more wild and authentic touch.
For the comfort of its visitors, the beach offers various support infrastructures. There is a picnic area equipped with tables, benches, and barbecues, ideal for enjoying outdoor meals. For the younger ones, the area includes a children's playground. Additionally, a beach soccer field and spacious grassy areas are available, suitable for relaxing and unwinding.
The excellent water quality of Folgosa River Beach has been officially recognized. In 2020, the site was awarded the "Gold Quality" distinction by Quercus, an environmental protection association, which attests to the cleanliness of the Paiva River's waters. Besides swimming, the river's characteristics allow for other activities, such as rowing and fishing competitions. The variation in flow and riverbed gradient also open up possibilities for more dynamic water sports in certain areas. It is important to note that pets are not allowed in this area.
