The Ponte dos Melos (Melos Bridge) is an old railway structure that used to be crossed by trains, but is now deactivated.
This bridge is an impressive work of architecture, built in granite masonry, with eight arches and a span of 128 meters.
From the bridge, visitors can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Currently, the bridge presents some anomalies, such as cracks in the arches, degradation of the guardrail, vegetation on its walls, and water infiltration problems.
Conservation work has been carried out on the bridge, including the application of mortars and the installation of metal tie rods between the tympanums. However, these measures show signs of degradation.
The Ponte dos Melos is located along the Vouga Ecopista, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful natural landscape while exploring the region.
