The Serra das Meadas Biological Park is located in the mountainous area of Serra das Meadas, near the Village of São João, in the municipality of Lamego. It is approximately seven kilometers from the center of Lamego city. With an altitude ranging between 955 and 1004 meters, this location offers a natural setting of great value, integrated into an area historically associated with forests.

A Space for Preservation and Education

Opened in 2002, the Serra das Meadas Biological Park is a space dedicated to environmental education and the preservation of nature and its biodiversity. Occupying a vast area of fifty hectares, this place was once a nursery of the General Directorate of Forests, and today plays a fundamental role in raising awareness about environmental issues and the importance of species conservation. It is a meeting point with nature for all those who seek to understand its value.

The Richness of Wildlife

The park hosts a remarkable variety of flora, evident in the diversity of its vegetation. Regarding fauna, it is possible to observe native species, with a focus on avifauna that nests freely in the area. The Biological Park also hosts animals in captivity, such as buzzards, crows, foxes, deer, fallow deer, wild boars, and various birds. These animals, often unable to survive in the wild for various reasons, play an essential educational role, helping to raise visitors' awareness of the fragility of wildlife and the danger of extinction for certain species.
