Located in the village of Meijinhos, in the municipality of Lamego, at the top of a hill with unobstructed views over the surrounding landscape.
Classified as a Site of Public Interest since 2011, it includes the church, churchyard, and cemetery.
In ancient times, a Roman encampment existed on the site. Later, a small hermitage dedicated to Saint Blaise was built, which was the origin of the current church.
The church grew over the centuries and took its current form around the 17th century. It features typical elements of Portuguese religious architecture.
On the main altar, made of gilded carving, frescoes hidden under stucco were discovered, depicting scenes related to the life of the Virgin Mary.
The paintings, from the 16th century, show episodes such as the Assumption of Our Lady, surrounded by angels and apostles, the representation of the Holy Trinity, as well as other figures like Saint Elizabeth, Zechariah, Saint Anne, and Saint Joachim.
The frescoes were restored between 1993 and 1998 and can now be appreciated by visitors to the church.
It is a space that combines history, faith, and art, with a strong connection to local identity and the religious heritage of the region.
