The Parish Church of Nossa Senhora Entre-as-Vinhas is located in Arcozelo do Cabo, an area that is part of the locality of Arcozelos, in the municipality of Moimenta da Beira. Its name evokes the rural environment that characterizes the region, nestled in the area known as "Entre-as-Vinhas" (Among-the-Vineyards).
Although currently in ruins, this site maintains its historical and symbolic relevance for the community, standing out as a landmark in the landscape of the parish of Arcozelos.
With its origins in the 17th century, the Parish Church of Nossa Senhora Entre-as-Vinhas once served as the mother church of the parish of Arcozelos. Its construction marked a significant period in local and religious history, functioning as the center of the community's spiritual life.
The passage of time has left its visible mark on the building, which today lies in ruins. Despite this state, its emblematic value remains intact, asserting itself as an enduring testament to the heritage and identity of Arcozelos and inviting contemplation of its historical journey.
In its splendor, the interior of the Church of Nossa Senhora Entre-as-Vinhas was notable for its details, housing four altars dedicated to important figures of faith. Among them, the main altar, consecrated to the patroness, Nossa Senhora de Entre as Vinhas, stood out, along with others dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament, the Lord of Affliction, and the Heart of Jesus. These altars were central points of devotion and worship.
The structure also included two private chapels, each with its own history and heraldry. The chapel of Santa Isabel, which displayed the engraved date of 1517 on the stone, was associated with the Sá family, while the chapel of Santo Agostinho was linked to the Rebelo family. Both chapels proudly displayed their respective family coats of arms, elements that underscored the connections between faith, the notable families of the region, and the memory of the place.
Additionally, near the church, a peculiar element can be found: the Baptismal Font. This font, dug into the earth, exhibits a stone on its wall that serves as an ancient landmark or sign, adding a layer of curiosity and tradition to the ensemble.
