The Church of Our Lady of Health is located in the Termas urbanization, in São Pedro do Sul, an area known for its thermal tradition. It is set in a small square of Portuguese cobblestone, overlooking the hillside where typical village buildings extend, and green areas dotted with cork oaks and oak trees.
Access is by foot via winding paths, or by secondary roads that open onto the spacious area in front of the main façade, lending a sense of tranquility and proximity to the local thermal heritage.
The cornerstone was blessed on May 16, 1996, by Bishop D. António Monteiro of Viseu, marking the beginning of a work that introduced a contemporary style to the historic landscape of São Pedro do Sul. This place of worship was conceived with the purpose of serving residents and visitors of the Termas, maintaining a symbolic connection to the values of healing and well-being associated with thermal water.
The project's simplicity reflects attention to traditional materials, notably the use of granite, so characteristic of the region, which ensures durability and landscape integration.
The building features modern, minimalist lines: a rectangular nave topped by a roof with inclined planes, supported by columns forming a front porch. This covered space functions as an informal gathering point, protected from sun and rain.
The gray-toned granite facings contrast with the polished cobblestone floor, creating a sober and harmonious environment. Large windows allow natural light to enter, illuminating the interior with a soft hue that highlights the altar and mural paintings.
