Alvite Mother Church is located in the heart of the village, in the municipality of Moimenta da Beira. It is in the central area of the village, making it a visible and easily accessible landmark for those exploring Alvite's streets. Its position in the urban core grants it a prominent role in the local landscape, being one of the most emblematic buildings.
The current Alvite Mother Church was built upon the foundations of its predecessor, maintaining a connection with the community's past. The construction of the present building began in 1971, giving rise to a new place of worship that serves the population of Alvite. This process represented a renewal, but with respect for the history of the site.
One of the most notable elements of the Mother Church is its tower. This component is not a recent construction, but rather a surviving element of the old parish church. The tower was carefully re-erected and preserved due to its architectural and historical importance, being the only physical vestige remaining from the original building. The bell, installed there, continues to fulfill its daily function, calling the people of Alvite to prayer and marking the rhythm of life in the village.
