Situated in the locality of Caria, in the municipality of Moimenta da Beira, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Guia stands on an elevated point of the terrain. It is believed that this name is due to the fact that one of the three castles that once dotted the landscape of Caria existed here. Popular tradition enriches this site with the legend of the "Moura's Grotto", an underground passage that, according to legend, served as a refuge for a Muslim princess, adding a veil of mystery and fascination to the visit.
