The Quay is located in the locality of Folgosa, within the Quinta da Chinchorra area, in the municipality of Armamar. Its position is privileged, next to the waters of the Douro River, offering a wide view over the reservoir and the surrounding landscape. This spot is situated on the riverfront of Folgosa, a place where the natural beauty of the river meets human intervention.

A Singular Structure:

This place is distinguished by a semi-aquatic construction, one of the few of its kind in the Douro region, which projects over the water. Its unique architecture allows for an experience of proximity to the river. Complementing this structure is a terrace that extends, as if suspended, over the waters, inviting moments of tranquility and contemplation of the fluvial landscape.

Dialogue with the Douro Landscape:

From the Quay, it is possible to admire the iconic landscapes of the Douro vineyards, which extend in terraces up the hillsides. The natural surroundings offer a characteristic panorama of this classified region, where the river meanders between cultivated hills. The atmosphere invites the observation of the serene passage of boats and immersion in the tranquility of the valley.

River Support Point:

The Quay was designed to serve as an essential support point for navigation on the Douro. It has the capacity to accommodate various vessels, from the larger ones that travel the river on cruises to smaller pleasure boats, for which there is a dedicated space. It also includes a ramp for emergency situations, ensuring the functionality and safety of the infrastructure.

Requalification of the Riverfront:

The construction of this Quay, initiated in 2005, marked an important moment for the locality. Its implementation led to a significant improvement of the Folgosa riverfront, contributing to the urban requalification of the area. This intervention provided the location with a modern and harmonious infrastructure, enhancing access and the experience by the Douro River.
