The Multipurpose Social Centre is located in the village of Gralheira, in the municipality of Cinfães, nestled in a peaceful rural environment. Terraces and stone walls, typical of the Douro region, extend around it, lending the space a sense of welcoming warmth and authenticity.
It is close to the main residential area, with easy pedestrian access via narrow traditional cobblestone streets, allowing visitors to discover the natural colours of the lush green landscape and the gentle slopes that characterise the valley.
This building, of old design, has served multiple functions over time. It was the Parish Council House and, later, hosted the 2nd cycle “Tele-school”, served as a kindergarten, and supported the Primary School's canteen. The memory of these uses reflects the space's central role in community life.
It also served as the headquarters for the Gralheira Ethnographic Group and, for a period, temporarily housed the R.C.D. Gralheira Association, bearing witness to the strengthening of social and cultural ties among local inhabitants.
Inside, the spacious rooms host various initiatives, having accommodated popular festivals and youth theatre productions. Although the small museum installed there is temporarily closed, the building maintains its vocation for cultural and educational events.
The traditional masonry structure, complemented by openings that allow natural light to enter, creates a versatile environment where the village's past and present intersect, offering a meeting point for those passing through Gralheira.
