This venue began to take shape in 2015, driven by the desire to create more cultural dynamism in Viseu.
The idea came from Catarina and Nuno, who felt the need for a space in the city with a more regular and diverse cultural offering, avoiding the necessity of traveling to other locations in search of artistic events.
Carmo 81 occupies the building of an old blacksmith's shop, a place with history and a connection to manual labor and the city's economic life.
This structure was transformed and adapted to host the cultural activity that now takes place there, preserving part of its original identity while giving it a new purpose.
This space functions as a meeting point for various artistic expressions, promoting cultural diversity in Viseu.
In addition to hosting exhibitions and artistic circuits, Carmo 81 plays an active role in supporting new talents, also serving as a platform for the development of musical projects and the presentation of emerging artists, fostering local creation.
