The Social, Recreational and Sports Solidarity Association of Vila Chã de Sá is located in the Lagares area, a sector of the locality of Vila Chã de Sá, in the municipality of Viseu. This space, which has historically developed, is situated in an area dedicated to sports activities and social interaction, becoming a landmark in the local landscape and the life of the community.
This place has a rich history deeply linked to sports, particularly football, dating back to the mid-20th century. Initially, sports were practiced spontaneously, in improvised spaces. What distinguishes the Association is the initiative and collective effort of local inhabitants who, in the 1960s, organized to build the first football field in the Maceira area, using rudimentary means, such as ox teams to level the terrain. Later, with the need for change, the community spirit re-emerged with the construction of a new field and the Association's headquarters, in 1976, in what is now the Pedra d’Águia area. Generations of young people dedicated hours, including nights and weekends, to erecting and maintaining these infrastructures, reflecting their passion for sports and their sense of belonging in the parish.
Over the years, the Association's space has undergone continuous redevelopment, transforming into a dynamic center for sports and leisure. Currently, it features an eleven-a-side football field and a seven-a-side football field, both properly fenced and meeting regulatory conditions. The infrastructures include stands for spectators, a multipurpose building that supports various activities, and modern changing rooms. This sports complex is the venue for inter-parish meetings and continues to be a point of attraction for the community and visitors, offering a pleasant environment for sports practice and social interaction.
The Social, Recreational and Sports Solidarity Association of Vila Chã de Sá is more than a set of infrastructures; it is a living symbol of the commitment and unity of its inhabitants. It represents a legacy of local initiative and persistence, where the desire to create a space for sports and solidarity materialized through generations of collective work.
