The Museum of Sacred Art is located in the Mother Church of São Mamede, in the charming Vila Marim, belonging to the municipality of Mesão Frio.
Inside the church, you will find artistic treasures dating back to different eras. Highlights include the 18th-century gilded carvings, the 17th-century tiles, and various religious images, including Saint Sebastian, Senhor dos Passos, and the Crucified Christ.
The church's ceiling is adorned with a beautiful pattern of coffers, giving a special touch to its internal architecture.
Inside the church, there is a Museum of Sacred Art that is open to the public. This museum houses a collection of religious objects and art of great historical and cultural significance.
In the churchyard, you will find a bronze statue of the former parish priest, Father António Machado, who served his parish for four decades, being a revered figure in the community.
If you wish to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist, please note that the Sunday mass takes place every Sunday at 11:30 am, presided over by the Parish Priest, Father Sérgio Tomé.
An important date to visit is August 17th, when the community celebrates the feast in honor of Saint Mamede with an exciting procession and a solemn Eucharistic celebration. It is a unique opportunity to experience local culture and devotion.
