Situated in the heart of Favaios, it is part of an old noble manor house facing the village's main street, with no walls separating the building from the road.
Built in 1676 by Nicolau de Queiroz Pinto, a nobleman connected to the Vila Real region. The original inscription can still be read above the chapel's portal.
It features a Baroque and Mannerist style. Inside, highlights include the coffered wooden ceiling, the high choir with wooden railings, and the gilded altarpiece, with typical features of the period.
The chapel is part of a 17th-century manor house, classified within the Special Protection Zone of Favaios' historic center, known for its architectural and cultural value.
The sculpted family coat of arms represents the Queiroz lineage, with heraldic symbols typical of Portuguese nobility.
At the back of the manor house there is a farm with a vineyard, representing Favaios' connection to wine production, especially the famous Moscatel.
For centuries, the chapel was linked to a family of morgados (heirs by primogeniture) with a relevant role in local history, including connections to the Order of Christ and resistance during the French Invasions.
The building underwent reforms throughout the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries, retaining most of its original features.
