This house is a place of great importance as it was the residence of Camilo Castelo Branco during his time in Ribeira de Pena. It was here that the writer lived through significant personal moments, including his first years of freedom, and where he settled with Joaquina Pereira de França. During his stay in this house, his daughter Rosa was born in 1842, the fruit of this union. Despite his relatively brief stay, the influence of these lands and their people on Camilo's vast body of work is evident, with references that have endured throughout his writings. The Museological Space

Currently, the Casa de Camilo functions as a museological space dedicated to the life and vast work of the novelist. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the permanent exhibition “Camilo and Ribeira de Pena,” which delves into the writer's connection with this Trás-os-Montes municipality. One of the most notable aspects of the exhibition is the reconstruction of the rooms that Camilo shared with Joaquina, his first wife, allowing a glimpse into the daily life of the time. The space also provides knowledge about the history of Rosa, the daughter born of this union. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the house regularly hosts temporary exhibitions, contributing to the dissemination of Portuguese literature and the celebration of Camilo's legacy.
