Termas Pedras Salgadas is located in Bornes de Aguiar, in the municipality of Vila Pouca de Aguiar, integrated into the Lombo Urbanization. The site is set within a vast natural park, spanning approximately twenty hectares, immersing visitors in an atmosphere of great tranquility and close contact with the unique landscape of Northern Portugal. This park offers an extensive network of trails, extending over eight kilometers, ideal for walks and moments of serenity.
At the heart of Pedras Salgadas lie the springs from which its renowned natural mineral water emerges. These waters are valued for their therapeutic properties, recognized by the scientific community for decades. Their composition, particularly rich in minerals and gases, confers unique characteristics, traditionally associated with supporting the treatment of digestive, respiratory, and metabolic conditions.
The history of Termas de Pedras Salgadas dates back to the 19th century, a period when its waters began to attract the attention of Portuguese royalty, contributing to its growing recognition. Formal exploitation began in 1871, and the water's qualities were quickly distinguished with prestigious international awards. The historic Thermal SPA building, a remarkable architectural landmark, underwent an exemplary requalification. This work, signed by the renowned architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, restored the space to its original charisma, harmoniously blending tradition with modernity.
Within the park, the thermal space is designed to promote an environment of balance and revitalization. It presents itself as a serene location where one can enjoy a heated indoor pool, ideal for walking circuits and moments of relaxation. There are also areas dedicated to well-being, including a sauna and hammam, complemented by spaces for hydromassage and various types of showers, providing an experience of care and tranquility centered on the benefits of thermal water.
Beyond the thermal element, the park offers a natural environment that invites exploration and outdoor activity. With its extensive network of trails, it is possible to go hiking in full contact with the surrounding landscape, enjoying the freshness of nature. The site also includes a space dedicated to discovering and learning about its rich history, the Pedras Experience Museum, and activities such as tree climbing, which allow for dynamic and fun interaction with the forest environment. It is a suitable setting for those seeking a moment of fun and connection with nature.
