Quinta Nova has a long history, with roots in the 18th century. Founded on land belonging to the former Portuguese Royal House, it is a place with a great tradition of wine production in the Douro, now preserved by the Amorim family.
Small chapel dedicated to the men who sailed on the Douro in rabelo boats. The granite image of Our Lady of Carmo dates back to the 17th century, and the chapel continues to be a place of devotion and respect.
Quinta Nova was a pioneer in planting single-varietal vineyards in the Douro, working with grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz. It has 41 vineyard plots with average ages of 45 years, offering a great diversity of grapes and unique microclimates.
In historical terraced areas, centenary vineyards are cared for in the traditional way, preserving old grape varieties. They are unique plots, where vines continue to be planted in order to respect tradition and quality.
The Quinta Nova cellar is one of the oldest in the region, dating back to 1764. Recently renovated, it includes modern equipment that allows for more sustainable and precise wine production, respecting the characteristics of the Douro as much as possible.
Visiting Quinta Nova is much more than a simple visit to the Douro. It offers award-winning wine tourism, with spectacular views over the valley, where you can explore the vineyards, the historic cellar and taste wines that translate the character of the region.
Located in an area recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Quinta Nova is surrounded by vineyard terraces, in a landscape designed by the hands of generations of winemakers, with the schist walls and vineyards on steep slopes, typical of the region.
The Amorim family values the preservation of the region's traditional methods, maintaining sustainable practices that respect nature and the cultural heritage of the Douro, committed to a future of quality and authenticity.
The Quinta has around 130 native grape varieties and a diversity of schist soils that contribute to the quality of the wines. This heritage is preserved for future generations, keeping alive the culture and terroir of the Douro.
The wines of Quinta Nova reflect the essence of the Douro, with careful productions based on the different microterroirs of the 41 plots. Each wine is designed to capture the unique identity and flavor of the land.
