The Vila Real Forest Park is integrated into the urban fabric of the city, more precisely in the Ferreiros Neighborhood. This green space, enclosed by a wall, is surrounded by residential areas, a school, and the park's own facilities. Its position is further marked by its proximity to a river, an element that contributes to its natural atmosphere.
Inaugurated in the 1960s, the Vila Real Forest Park offers a vast area of approximately 38 thousand square meters. It is a green lung that stands out in the urban landscape, characterized by its dense vegetation and an environment reminiscent of a forest area, providing a contrast with the surrounding built environment. Its current management is ensured by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Trás-os-Montes, which oversees the maintenance of this important natural and public heritage.
Within the Forest Park, visitors find various possibilities to enjoy the outdoors. There are ample spaces for walking and relaxing, as well as areas designed for social gatherings, such as picnic areas. The presence of the adjacent river also allows for activities like fishing, and in certain areas, direct contact with the water. This environment makes the park a pleasant place to spend time with family or friends, in a context of tranquility and nature.
