The small church stands in Largo do Calvário, in the heart of the village of Curral de Vacas, in Santo António de Monforte (municipality of Chaves). It is set on a narrow street, flanked by granite houses and low walls, which lend it a serene and typically rural atmosphere.

The body of the church features exposed granite masonry, shaped with simple lines and a compact volume. The façade is crowned by a double-gabled belfry, where two small bells are framed by narrow pilasters and topped with pinnacles and a central cross.

The depressed-arch doorway, framed by a subtle moulding, opens onto a small landing of semi-circular stone steps. The dark wooden door, protected by a white metal grille, creates a play of contrasts that enhances the sober exterior.
