The House and Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament is located in the rural tranquility of Salto, an area belonging to the locality of Noura, in the municipality of Murça. This architectural complex is situated in the center of the village, in a setting that adapts to a gentle slope.
Its main facade opens onto a local road, and in front, a spacious, inviting square develops, with garden benches and other dwelling houses that complement the characteristic village environment.
This complex is composed of a residence and an attached chapel, revealing features of the prosperous rural architecture of the 18th to 20th centuries. The house, with a rectangular plan, presents two-story facades, plastered and painted white, finished with a cornice. Its design reflects the traditional division of dwellings of the time, with service areas on the ground floor and the residential area on the upper floor.
The chapel, annexed to the right side of the house, stands out for its volume and its main facade in exposed stonework, which offers a visual contrast with the simpler exterior of the residence.
The chapel is an element of particular interest, with architectural details that deserve attention. Its quoins are marked by Tuscan pilasters, which culminate in pyramidal pinnacles with spheres, conferring elegance and verticality to the structure. The gable is skillfully truncated by a bell gable with a perfect round arch, which houses the bell.
The chapel's main portal, with a straight lintel, is flanked by pilasters that support an entablature and an interrupted triangular pediment by a Latin cross in relief. Above the portal, a slit with a splayed frame complements the ensemble, demonstrating the attention to detail present in this granite construction.
The construction of the House and Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament probably dates from the second half of the 18th century, with some reforms carried out already in the 20th century. It is a testament to the evolution of local heritage and the architecture of the municipality of Murça. Historical documents from 1758 do not refer to the chapel, which suggests that this religious structure was a later addition to the initial phase of the house or contemporary with its completion, underlining its importance in the context of the religious and social life of the village throughout the centuries.
