Situated on the slope of a small hill in Canedo, this chapel stands out beside a loose cobblestone path leading to the summit, offering a broad perspective over the surrounding fields. The rural setting, marked by scattered trees and native shrubs, lends it a tranquil and isolated character.
Access is via a little-used forest road, with traces of old loose stones on the ground. The slight elevation of the terrain highlights the presence of the granite crosses and the religious building, making it a landmark on the parish's horizon.
Devotion to Our Lady of Fátima reached Canedo in the decades following the 1917 apparitions, reflected in this modest chapel, yet laden with popular significance. The stone structures bear witness to the community's effort to erect a place of prayer situated outside the urban center.
Along the path, several granite crosses emerge, resembling an informal via sacra. Each cross, with simple forms and patinated by time, symbolizes the connection between residents and their faith, keeping alive the tradition of small local pilgrimages.
The building features a sober design: a rectangular plan, a dark wooden door, and a gabled roof crowned by a plain cross. The whitewashed walls stand out amidst the grey of the rocks and the ocher of the trees in autumn.
Nearby, ground cover and some deciduous trees create a contrast of colors with the changing seasons. The panoramic view over the valley invites contemplation, with the natural light bathing the facade being a detail that highlights the texture of the granite and the serene atmosphere.
