The bridge over the Beça river, affectionately known as "Ponte de Pedrinha" (Little Stone Bridge), is located next to the village of Beça, in the municipality of Boticas. Erected over the waters of the Beça river, this ancient crossing is situated in an environment that invites tranquility, slightly away from the bustle of the modern road that crosses the region. Its position offers a unique vantage point over the river and the surrounding natural landscape.

A Historical Testament

This bridge is a remarkable example of the region's engineering and history, classified as a Property of Public Interest. It is recognized as the most extensive and well-preserved medieval bridge in the entire ancient Terra do Barroso region. In the past, it played a crucial role, integrating the route that connected important cities like Braga and Chaves, thus marking an important passage on the ancient communication routes of Northern Portugal.

Granite Architecture

The "Ponte de Pedrinha" is a work of robust granite construction. Its structure stands out for the combination of five arches, featuring three perfect round arches complemented by two ogival arches, a characteristic that gives it a distinct architectural appearance. These arches support a solid deck, flanked by railings that complete its structure, revealing the skill of medieval builders.

Currently, the bridge maintains its beauty and integrity, but its function has changed. With the construction of a new bridge downstream, which serves modern road traffic, the old Ponte de Pedrinha has become an exclusive spot for pedestrians.
