Situated in the heart of São Mamede de Ribatua, this amphitheatre is located at the start of the Trilho das Fragas Más, in an area where the garden extends along an arm of the river. The surroundings are marked by stone pavements and, on the opposite bank, the Douro Superior's typical vegetation covers the slope.
The space occupies a central point in the village, benefiting from easy pedestrian access from the main road and gentle views over the river's flow, which can be heard in the background.
The pavement is dominated by a circular platform in reddish tones, surrounded by granite steps that invite visitors to sit and appreciate the silence. Around it, orange trees and other trees with vibrant foliage create a play of seasonal colours, especially during the transition to autumn.
The constant murmur of water, along with the evident care in the space's cleanliness and the maintenance of small statues, lends the place an atmosphere of serenity. Benches scattered throughout the promenade allow for contemplative pauses or small group gatherings.
Conceived as an open-air stage, the amphitheatre supports community events, such as traditional music gatherings or local festivals held mainly in spring and early autumn. The scattered sculptures allude to the village people, with figures highlighting homage to grandparents and the rural past.
More than just a performance venue, the amphitheatre is a confluence point between nature and collective memory, where visitors can learn a little about the history of São Mamede de Ribatua through the dialogue between stone, water, and vegetation.
