Located over the Vez River, in the locality of Vilela, in the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, district of Viana do Castelo.
Connects Vilela to Aboim das Choças, being an important crossing point in the region.
Probably built in the 13th century, it was already mentioned in documents from 1258.
In 1662, during the Restoration War, an invading Spanish army crossed this bridge while retreating, failing to reach Braga or Ponte de Lima.
Since 1990, it has been recognized as a Property of Public Interest, guaranteeing its preservation.
Romanesque style bridge, typical of the medieval period, with simple and resistant features, perfectly integrated into the natural landscape.
Quiet and picturesque place, ideal for appreciating history, architecture and the beauty of the Vez River. An excellent spot for photography and nature walks.
