Located in Vila Praia de Âncora, municipality of Caminha, district of Viana do Castelo.
Megalithic monument from the Neolithic period, built around the 30th century BC.
Classified as a National Monument since 1910, it is one of the oldest testimonies in the region.
For a long time, it was on private land and difficult for the public to access, hidden by high walls.
In 2016, the Caminha City Council acquired the land and started a redevelopment project for the surrounding area.
The removal of walls, planting of native trees, and restructuring of the space, replacing old deactivated infrastructures, are planned.
The creation of a Megalithic Museum Center is planned, awaiting approval for funding in the 'Norte 2020' program.
Historical place of great archaeological and cultural value, on its way to becoming more accessible and informative for tourists.
