Location

Located in Pinheiros, Monção, approximately 6 km from the town center.

National Monument

Classified as a National Monument since 1910.

History

- Built in the early 19th century, with works prolonged until 1834.

- The first owners were the Pereira Velho de Moscoso family.

- Suffered periods of abandonment until being purchased in 1901 by Pedro Maria da Fonseca Araújo, who restored the palace and gardens.

- In 1937, it was acquired by Commander Francisco de Oliveira Paes, whose family later launched the famous Alvarinho wine "Palácio da Brejoeira".

- Since 2010, it has been open to the public for guided tours.

Architecture

- Neoclassical style with Rococo details.

- "L" shaped structure with three turrets.

- Main facade with granite, coat of arms, and balustrade balconies.

Interior

- Lounges decorated with paintings, frescoes, and exquisite furniture.

- Grand staircase with 20th-century tile panels.

- Chapel and theater with classical decoration.

- Winter garden in glass and iron.

- 18 hectares of vineyards, where the Alvarinho wine "Palácio da Brejoeira" is produced.
