The Cultural Centre is located in the town of Paredes de Coura itself, in the municipality of the same name. It occupies a central position in the town, establishing itself as a cultural landmark for inhabitants and visitors alike, as well as for the surrounding region.
Inaugurated on October 7, 1997, the Paredes de Coura Cultural Centre was one of the first facilities of its kind to become operational in the Alto Minho region. The building's original design was conceived by architect Luís Cerqueira. In 2019, the space underwent a complete renovation, under the direction of architect Vitor Rosas, which ensured the updating and modernization of its facilities.
This cultural centre offers several areas dedicated to the presentation and dissemination of various art forms. It features a large auditorium, suitable for major shows, and a small auditorium, which also functions as a cinema hall. These spaces are complemented by an exhibition hall and a foyer, which serve as venues for other cultural activities. The diversity of its facilities allows it to host a wide range of artistic expressions, from classical music and jazz concerts, theatre and dance performances, to film screenings and literary events.
Managed by the Municipality of Paredes de Coura, the Cultural Centre plays a fundamental role in the promotion, creation, and dissemination of culture in the region. It is a place that fosters the cultural development of the local community and neighboring municipalities, by providing varied and accessible programming. Its activity is reinforced by partnerships with other cultural entities and schools, underscoring its commitment to art and its impact on people's lives.
