Located in the pleasant area of Fornelos, in the village of Tangil, Monção municipality, the Vale do Mouro Cultural Centre is set in surroundings that evoke the serenity of a small community. Its position within this rural context offers visitors an opportunity to observe the daily life and tranquil environment of the region.
The building that today houses the Vale do Mouro Cultural Centre has a remarkable history. It is the result of a renovation and expansion project of the former primary school of the Tangil parish. Inaugurated in June 2015, this space represents a significant transformation, converting from a traditional learning place into a dynamic hub, entirely dedicated to culture and artistic expression.
This centre is the meeting point and headquarters of the Banda Musical da Casa do Povo de Tangil (Tangil People's House Musical Band), a philharmonic orchestra with a long and rich history, founded in 1838. Its presence is fundamental for the cultural revitalization of the locality. The centre regularly hosts various activities, from musical performances to other artistic events that enrich the regional calendar. It is also where the philharmonic's music school operates, contributing to the training of new talents and the preservation of the region's musical traditions. This space symbolises the community's passion for music and art, revealing a strong sense of unity and the appreciation of local cultural heritage.
