The Rio Cabrão Waterfall is located in the village of Refóios do Lima, within the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, in the heart of Minho. This location harmonizes with the surrounding natural landscape, characteristic of this northern Portuguese region, where the green of the mountains and the constant presence of water define the environment. The Cabrão River, which gives the waterfall its name, winds through a landscape dominated by rocky elements and dense vegetation, lending the place an atmosphere of tranquility and connection to nature.
The central point of this location is its waterfall, where the waters of the Cabrão River cascade down in a succession of drops and small lagoons. Over time, the force of the water has sculpted the granite rocks, creating cavities and nooks. The sound of the flowing water and the beauty of its falls create a serene setting, inviting contemplation and close contact with the wild nature of the area. The clarity of the waters and the way they interact with the rocky terrain make the waterfall a prominent scenic element.
To allow for the exploration of this natural treasure, pedestrian paths and walkways have been created, facilitating safe access and observation of the waterfall. These elements, integrated into the landscape, provide different perspectives on the waterfall and the river's surroundings. The walkways allow visitors to walk alongside the watercourse, revealing the dynamic nature of the Cabrão River and the richness of its banks. This infrastructure, established in 2021, aims to preserve the environment while offering an immersive and enjoyable experience.
