Located in the parish of Vile, municipality of Caminha, the chapel stands on a hillside of the Serra de Arga, surrounded by nature.
Built between the 10th and 14th centuries, it shows features of late Romanesque. It is believed to have been a site linked to a small Benedictine monastery.
Simple and robust chapel, with a nave and chancel. The main facade has a pointed arch portal, topped by a small rose window and a bell tower with a single bell.
Little exterior decoration, highlighting the Maltese cross and the Star of David engraved on the tympanum of the portal.
It preserves 16th-century mural paintings, highlighting religious scenes such as the "Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian" and the "Descent from the Cross."
Property of Public Interest since 1950, included in the Romanesque Route of the Minho River.
The pilgrimage of São Pedro is celebrated annually on July 29th.
