Located in the Jardim dos Centenários, in the center of the town of Arcos de Valdevez, district of Viana do Castelo.
Property of Public Interest since 1977.
Built between 1647 and 1681 by the Brotherhood of the Holy Spirit, with subsequent interventions in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The bell tower was erected between 1724 and 1727, and the chancel expanded in 1746. The current facade is the result of a 19th-century remodeling.
Mannerist style church, with a facade reformed according to Neoclassical principles. Inside, highlights include the 17th-century gilded baroque carving, including the main altarpiece of 1666 and the sculpted pulpits attributed to Manuel Gomes.
Inaugurated in 2018, this space, called "Porta do Barroco" (Baroque Door), presents the Baroque style in Alto Minho. The project included the recovery of the church and the installation of interactive technology to contextualize the art and society of the time.
