Location

- It is located in Romarigães, Paredes de Coura, in Alto Minho.

- Close to the Codeceira stream and ancient Roman roads.

Description of the Site

- Fortified settlement from the Iron Age, occupied between the 6th and 1st centuries BC.

- It has two lines of walls, mostly built of earth, which is rare in the region.

- Conical watchtower, about 4 meters high.

- Circular granite houses, some with traces of domestic and artisanal use.

Historical Significance

- One of the lowest-altitude settlements in the region, but with great archaeological value.

- Weak Roman presence, indicating an early abandonment.

- Archaeological excavations have revealed ceramics, traces of iron smelting, and a 4th-century AD coin.

Access and Visit

- The castro can be visited via the Estrada da Casa Grande de Romarigães.

- Surrounded by natural landscapes, ideal for those who enjoy hiking and history.
