It is located over the Vade River, a tributary of the Lima River, in the parish of Oleiros, municipality of Ponte da Barca.
Despite being known as the "Roman Bridge," there is no concrete evidence that it was built in Roman times. The current structure is medieval, possibly from the 12th or 13th century, having been reformulated during that period.
Small bridge with a single stone arch. The deck has a trestle shape with two inclined ramps, typical of medieval constructions. The pavement retains some original slabs, and the parapets are made of granite.
It is assumed that there was a crossing in Roman times, as the area was part of an ancient route that connected Alto Minho to Braga. The current bridge reflects a phase of territorial reorganization and economic growth in the Middle Ages.
Well-preserved structure, easily accessible. Car traffic is prohibited, making it an ideal place for hiking and enjoying the landscape.
Located in a green and quiet area, perfect for taking pictures and exploring the surrounding nature.
