Location

Located in Âncora, municipality of Caminha, in Bouça do Fraião, near other prehistoric monuments.

Description

Large burial mound, about 20 meters in diameter and 3 meters high, quite damaged.

Structure

Made of earth and compacted gravel, with no traces of the usual stone covering of these monuments.

Original function

Ancient burial site from the megalithic era, possibly used for burials in pits.

Archaeological finds

Fragments of pottery, some pieces with bell-beaker decoration, and flakes of worked stone.

Discovery and studies

Investigated in the 19th century and again in the 1980s, when it was identified in more detail.

Current use

Space of historical and cultural interest, visited by curious people and scholars of the megalithic past.
